AHS Undergraduate Labs

AHS has two undergraduate NEXUS labs, containing 21 PCs, located in B.C. Mathews Hall (BMH). The labs are normally open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for student use, with the exception of holidays and reduced hours during exam periods and between terms.

The following table shows the locations of the AHS Nexus labs & printers.

 

AHS Licensed Software

Each AHS lab machine, equipped with Windows Vista, has the following software installed:

Document Software

• Microsoft Office 2007 - Word, Excel, Powerpoint
• Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.0
• Ghost Script 8.56

Internet Software

• Microsoft Internet Explorer v. 7.x
• Mozilla Firefox v. 2.x
• Secure Shell Client (SSH)

Mathematical & Statistical Software

• SPSS v. 16
• R v. 2.5.x

AHS Computing NEXUS Accounts

AHS Computing provides Nexus accounts, which consist of the following:

A Roaming Profile

• Saves all of your settings so that each Nexus workstation presents a customized environment which contains settings unique to your account
• Provides 60MB of disk space to automatically save the following settings
  • Desktop Settings
  • Shortcuts
  • Internet Favourites
  • Internet and Document History

Personal Filespace

• 200 MB of space
• Automatically mapped as the N: drive when you log onto a Nexus workstation
• Accessible off-campus via the mywaterloo nexus email portal.
• Backed up daily, making it a very safe place to store data.
